LinkedIn is much more than an online CV. Over the past few years, the platform's been working hard to reposition itself as a business hub, and LinkedIn Pulse was a big part of that.
LinkedIn Pulse
What is LinkedIn Pulse?
LinkedIn Pulse started as a separate, business-focused content platform called Pulse.
Originally a project by Stanford University students Akshay Kothari and Ankit Gupta, Pulse was launched in 2010 and acquired by LinkedIn in 2013.
When it started it was only for influential figures and thought leaders, but LinkedIn opened up Pulse to all users in 2014, making it accessible to professionals across the globe.
Does LinkedIn Pulse still exist?
No. There's no longer a separate Pulse platform or a separate LinkedIn Pulse section of LinkedIn.
Is there a central place to find all articles on LinkedIn?
No. Instead of a separate area for content, you'll find articles mixed in with other updates on your newsfeed.
Who can write articles on LinkedIn?
All members are able to write and publish articles which then appear on members' newsfeeds and on their own profile.
How do you write articles on LinkedIn?
At the top of your newsfeed you'll see a box that says "Start a post". There are three options at the bottom of that box: Media, Job, and Write article. Click the "Write article" option and a separate editor-type interface will appear. You can draft your piece and publish it immediately or schedule it for later.
How do I schedule an article to be published later?
Scheduling is possible for both articles and posts. Once you've written your post, either a standalone post or one describing your article, look at the bottom right of the pop-up screen: you'll see a clock icon next to the blue "Post" button. Click that to choose the time you'd like to publish it.
What are collaborative articles?
Collaborative articles on LinkedIn cover knowledge-focused subjects which members of the LinkedIn community can add their insights and perspectives to.
These articles are initially crafted as AI-driven conversation initiators in partnership with LinkedIn's editorial team.
A select group of experts are then invited to add their thoughts to these articles.
What's a featured contributor?
The "Top experts in this article" consists of the top three contributors. You'll find them up in the upper right corner. This section only becomes visible when other members react to their contributions. There's no requirement for a Community Top Voice badge to earn a spot in this section.
