Building your personal brand on LinkedIn means consistently creating and publishing engaging content. But with the demands of a busy schedule, finding the time to create and post content can be a challenge. That's where scheduling posts comes in.

Why Schedule Posts on LinkedIn?

Scheduling posts on LinkedIn offers several benefits. Firstly, it allows you to plan your content in advance, ensuring a steady stream of posts even during busy periods.

Secondly, scheduling posts enables you to reach your target audience at the optimal time for engagement. By analysing your audience's behaviour and preferences, you can schedule posts to go live when they are most active on the platform.

Lastly, scheduling posts provides you with the opportunity to maintain a consistent presence on LinkedIn without having to manually publish content every day.

There's no need for a separate tool; LinkedIn has made it incredibly easy to schedule posts directly on their platform.

Here's how:

Sign in to your LinkedIn account and navigate to your homepage.

Click on "Start a post" at the top of your LinkedIn homepage. This will open a pop-up window where you can create your post.

Craft your post by typing your content in the "What do you want to talk about?" field. You can add text, images, links, and even hashtags to make your post more engaging.

Click on the clock icon located in the lower-right corner of the post editor. This will open the scheduling options.

Select a date and time for your post to go live. LinkedIn allows you to schedule posts within a range of 1 hour to 3 months in advance.

Review your scheduled date and time above the post. Ensure that it aligns with your content strategy and the preferences of your target audience.

Click on "Schedule" to finalise the scheduling of your post. A confirmation pop-up will appear to let you know that your post has been successfully scheduled.

Your post will automatically be live on LinkedIn on the date and time you specified.

Viewing and Managing Scheduled Posts on LinkedIn

Once you have scheduled your posts on LinkedIn, it's important to be able to view and manage them effectively. Here's how you can do it:

Click on "Start a post" at the top of your LinkedIn homepage, just like you did when scheduling the post.

Click on the clock icon located in the lower-left corner of the post editor. This will open the scheduled posts view.

In the "Schedule post" pop-up window, click on "View all scheduled posts" in the lower-left corner. This will take you to the "Scheduled posts" page.

On the "Scheduled posts" page, you can preview all the posts that you have scheduled. Clicking on a post will allow you to view its details and make any necessary changes.

If you want to reschedule a post, click on the icon next to the post. Select a new date and time from the dropdown menus and click "Next" to save your changes.

To delete a scheduled post, click on the Delete icon next to the post. Confirm your action in the pop-up window to remove the post from your scheduled list.

LinkedIn provides a user-friendly interface to manage your scheduled posts, allowing you to make adjustments as needed to ensure your content strategy remains on track.

LinkedIn Hacks to Optimise Your Scheduling Strategy

Now that you know how to schedule posts on LinkedIn, let's look at how to maximise the impact of your scheduled content:

1. Understand Your Audience

Think about what times they're most likely to be online and schedule your posts at that time. Not sure? Experiment with different days and times over the course of a few months to see which time slots get engagement from your target audience.

2. Plan Your Content Calendar

Dedicate time to plan your content in advance, considering important industry events, holidays, and trending topics. A well-planned content calendar will ensure that your posts are timely and relevant.

3. Diversify Your Content

To keep your audience engaged, it's important to diversify your content. Experiment with different formats such as text-only posts, images, videos, and articles. By offering a variety of content types, you can cater to the preferences of different LinkedIn users and keep your feed fresh and interesting.

4. Use Hashtags Strategically

Hashtags are a powerful tool to increase the discoverability of your posts on LinkedIn. Research relevant hashtags that are popular within your industry and include them in your scheduled posts. This will help your content reach a wider audience and attract professionals who are interested in your niche. General LinkedIn best practice is a max of three hashtags per post.

5. Monitor and Optimise

Build in time to review posts and see which performed best. Do a little A/B testing by posting on the same topic but with a different post format to try and differentiate between whether it was the subject or the post design that caught people's eye.

Based on this data, you can make informed decisions to optimise your scheduling strategy and improve the effectiveness of your posts.
